Open Diary: I am Style

'Give  a girl the right shoes, and she will conquer the world' - Marilyn Monroe could not have said it better. Known for the sexual confidence she radiated through the minnie, figure hugging, high slits deep plunging and low cut neckline dresses. She was someone who was not afraid to wear what she likes when she wanted, most of time without a bra, now that is what I call brave.

I respect that, I feel like fashion is about expressing one self, regardless of how odd and different it might be. There have been a lot of really weird things in the last couple of years, i.e Lady Gaga's meat dress for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards?? but who I'm I to judge!

In my own words, fashion is what you make it to be, style what you want it to be, trend is what you set. What's in is what you bring, what's out is what you've leave. I do not believe in being trend follower, I have always been told to be a leader. It is nice to have the latest things in fashion but its not a necessity if you can't afford it.

I can afford to get the newest Giuseppe Zannoti Shoes and rings, but that is not where my priority sits. I make use of what I have, its not about the label for me but about how it is worn. It is nice when you wear the simplest thing that you consider nothing of, and then others adore it.

Best example is this year's 2013 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet, pictures below. There were sexy elegance worn by the likes of Ashanti and Chanel Iman, cute pretty by Ariana Grande (she is so adorable). I like Ciara's Givenchy dress, its haute Couture. I think Selena Gomez looked amaze-balls! She has grown into such a stunning young lady, I love her.

Then we have the likes of Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, who I am refraining to comment because, there is really not much you could say? But what is wrong with Miley, btw why was she grabbing up Robin Thicke??? Paula?
So just be yourself wear what inspires you. And let others follow you.

Brits Awards 2012: My Best Dressed

I love the early months of every new year, The award ceremonies usually quenches my appetite for fancy haute couture, elegant and extremely sexy evening gowns. Sadly I was very disappointed with the celebrity fashion at this years Brits awards. There were very few outfits that caught my attention in a good way unlike last 2011 Brits Awards.
Most of the time I was sitting in front of my television going; "what the heck is She wearing??"
Alexander Burkes, strangely constructed dress caught my eye, I sort of appreciated the whole Egyptian Goddess meets colour look, but unfortunately, that was not enough to make it to my best dressed.

My favourite look for this years Brits is Kylie Minogue in Yves Saint Laurent (YSL)
Her whole look defined elegance, neat and subtly constructed sexiness. She looked absolutely beautiful, and her soft but visible make-up elevated the whole look making it very glamourous without trying.

My second Favourite was Nicole Scherzinger, she looked effortlessly beautiful, she has an amazing body and this lemon yellow low cut dress really caused her curves to be visible. The beaded detail in the dress made her very radiant, she look lovely.

I love this girl, I think Rihanna can pull of almost anything, I love the rock and roll twist to this elegant dress, but I think she could have done without the whole gloves..

Jessy J looked very beautiful, but I am not a fan of the half naked look.

Kelly Rowland: X-factor 2011 Wardrobe

I have been enjoying the beautiful, hot sun in Ghana, I’ve enjoyed myself, I am not going to stop speaking about it, not anytime soon. I'm going to keep rubbing your noses in, lol... You guys need to bare with me lol. I have been missing X-factor. Never been a huge fan, but I get excited during the final weeks. However, since I came back, I have a new style crush.
Move over Dannie, Cheryl who?
Kelly woow, Ms Rowland has been taking my breath away. Her outfits are daring unique and so open to debate, but I don’t know anyone who will have anything negative to say about her wardrobe on the show.
She has definitely put that huge paycheque, into good use. I love her now.
“motivation” has been my soundtrack this summer. (disclaimer: I have not been nobody’s motivation in case my mother or pastor is reading lol)
Enjoy more of her pictures, and let me know what you guys think of her style. My favourite outfits are the two just below

Love both shoes, and that smart nude outfit on the left, is just the bomb i love the skirt. I have been wearing similar dresses like the one on the right this summer, its sexy but still cute.

I love the boyfriend blazer, the t-shirt and signature black skirt, I have Steven Madden boots which are similar to the one she's wearing, gives me an idea for my saturday outfit.

the contrast between the mustard dress and the blue Louboutins, eye grabbing, she really embraced the idea of contrasting colour which was the trend this summer. her one is sophisticated but yet still funky? how do you do that? got to love her

What do you think?

One Beautiful Sunday

I hardly ever do outfit post, because I always forget my camera. But on this beautiful sunday, after church, I went to dinner with my family, the camera was there because my vain mother insisted on bringing it, So I did. And here is what I wore;

Blouse = Top Shop, Shoes = Forever21, Skirt = New Look, Bag = Dubai, Earring = My Mums 14ct gold :)

A topshop blouse with zip at the back, its floral, thus embracing this season floral trend, I got this top 3months ago, I don't think the still have it.
The Skirt is a new look high waist skirt, This was very popular last year around Autumn. It has a bow, i could wear it with a shirt and tug it in. I wanted a very free, flirty look so I wore it this was just as a skirt, with a pair of Forever21 wedges, another trend this season. But I think I made it my own.

How I will wear the Look

Glamour did a post about celebrity airport fashion and style. Amongst them was Kelly Osbourne, Kylie Minogue, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and a whole bunch of them.
I selected my favourite looks, and how I will go about achieving them. We always shop for what we will wear when we get to a holiday destination. But we often forget that the moment we leave for a flight that is when the actual holiday starts. My mum always makes sure she purchase an outfit for her plane journey, and she couldn't be more right.
I am a firm believer in the notion that how you start something is often how you end it. So start your holiday looking fabulous, and you will potentially end it looking the same.

I Love Rochelle Wiseman casual, laid back, sexy look. however, for ultimate relaxation, I cannot be wearing a belly top lol. Not all of us have such a toned stomach. I will swap the crop top for a longer one, and those  shoes for some flat sandals.

I love Cheryl's look and I will keep it as it is. Is edgy but still chic.

Una Healy looks so lovely, I was so glad to find something this similar. Although hers is floral, I found a butterfly one, and I think its bang on. The look is easy to copy and you can swap the sandals for some shoes or even a pair of heels.

I love Taylor Swift. I am a guilty party to abusing her 'Speak Now' album. I adore every song on that album. I can relate to so much of them. However I have left it with rest now.
I love this look. It is very casual but nice enough to change those shoes for a pair of black stiletto's to edge it up for a dinner. To be more in this season trend, I will swap the plain skirt for a multi coloured tribal one, and the horizontal striped top for a lace blouse. You can wear this with flip flops for a casual look or a pair of high heeled sandals for a more sexy day look.
When I was looking for matching outfits, I found these outfits from Forever21 and Newlook and I had to add it to the airport casual look. I love the bright graphic t-shirt. Its definitely something I would wear. I am not a big fan of converse but lately I seem to really be into them.

If you are going on Holiday, have you thought of what you will wear to the airport. It has to be something glam but still comfortable enough to leisure through your journey.
Let me know.

Graduate Fashion Week Outfit Post

The Graduate Fashion Week was last week, It started on Sunday 5th June - Wednesday 8th June. I went to the Sunday exhibition with Priscilla. It was raining and all wet, which killed our buzz before we even got there. The event was alright, I did not see any of the shows, but the exhibition had some cool stuff and also a lot of junk, but hey who I'm I to judge, they say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. I saw a lot of cool fashionista's and some outrageous ones lol.

I wore a maxi skirt, handmade by my mothers seamstress. Its made with Vlisco cloth, very tribal and African. I have a top made with same cloth and its usually worn together. However I decided to match it with a white vest top and a blazer.
Priscilla also wore a dress made with a Vlisco cloth and paired it with a cardigan.

We stayed for only half an hour. We got the Company Mag goody bag for £3.00 which was a real bargain. There were a whole lot of things which probably totalled up to over £20.00, The only bummer was that the issue in the magazine had already been on sale and I got the copy way before the exhibition.
We stopped by Subways and got a sandwich, got on the Piccadilly line and went home.

Open Diary: Definition In a Suit

It might be just me, but a guy in a suit always looks like 10 times better than they usually do. Like I said it might be just me. A suit does not make a man, but it sure lets a boy look like a man. I think all these men are super handsome and totally delicious lol...

Why did I draft this post, I have absolutely no idea, bored in my bed and it came to me, I got a soft spot for a man in a suit.

Effortlessly Fabulous

I am never the one to condone laziness, but there comes a time in every individuals life where you just cannot be bothered. I sometimes just want to leave my house in my PJ (they are kind of cute). However I don't, instead I throw on some old jeans and a fresh white Tee. And out The door I go, simple casual and nobody can say anything. Because that look is universally accepted, for both male and female.

Its never out of trend, you can wear it during the winter with a warm jacket and some comfy boots, or just wear jeans and a vest top, or printed t-shirt with some sandals or pumps, instantly upgrading a casual shopping look for a fabulous dinner, or drinks outfit.

I own over 10 different types of t-shirts, so I'm seen in them quite a lot. The trick is to switch jeans for shorts or maybe a patterned skirt (if you wanna follow the pattern trend)
I will say stay clear away from leggings/jeggings unless the white t-shirt covers your bum. Last summer I saw so atrocious sights, peoples arses jiggling everywhere in skimpy leggings, some which are sheer pantyhose. Do all of humanity a favour and stay away from jeggings unless they are thick enough to conceal your under garment (in or words your panties)

Others wore it this way

You probably have already tried this, so this was just a reminder. When you wear it, fix your hair and face, to up the casual into effortlessly fabulous.

Beyoncé - Run The World (Girls)

Before I start talking check out some of the out fit. Most images are from ...source

source
Shoes by Gareth Pugh and the gold dress too

I'm doing, my daily blog stalking and I happened to stomp upon, Parole Da Black SJp, I don't understand half of what its said on there, but image tells story and the occasional English words provide me with clues as to what is going on. Anyway she has a lovely blog.

I saw this video Beyonce "Run the World (Girls) and I had to repost.
Choicefm.co.uk have been playing this song, and I had heard it numerous times, but I thought nothing of it actually I did not bother to listen to the lyrics, I just head "girls run the world... "yade yada yeda"
Though it is female empowerment, The beat was making too much  noise in my ears. But since its Beyonce and I love Beyonce, I though great song, wrong beat.

That was until I saw the video, is it only me, but does a good video make, a song so much more better. I definitely think so. The video is empowering, emphasis on female revolution, and grasping power, leaving the blokes astound with their mouths open.

I mean it could have done without the lady on the cross, *extremely blasphemous*
The Lion although illustrate a symbol of power, its still religious as the Lion of Judah, a religions connotation.

Woman we do run the world, but we can do so without blasphemy.
Any how, apart from what I have ranted about, I absolutely adore this video, especially the choreography, it is outstanding. Queen B can definitely move her body. Its made me love the song, like never before.

WHO RUN THE WORLD???

GIRLS!!!!
