Open Diary: At 23

Twenty three and I have accepted what I have known since the age is seventeen. I am now at a stage where it is entirely important for me to focus on my personal growth, my spiritual growth. Focusing on fulfilling the desires of another individual is not part of that plan.

Regardless of what anybody feel, think or is even brave to say, it's time to be selfish! 
Selfish to build my dreams, to lay the foundation for the life I want...
To put me in a place where I can contribute, and be a partner and not a burden.
To set an example for the ones who will look up to me. 

All with the help of the one above of course, it's the time to discover the true essence of what happiness means to me! As such some "traditional" things have to take a back seat! #food4thought

Open Diary: The next step

Let me just say that it is so amazing going to bed knowing that I do not have to wake up early tomorrow. I think it helps me sleep better.

I have decided to go back to law school this September, it took a lot of debating but I have finally gotten my head around it. It's quite amazing how lazy one can get, only being out of the education system for the first time since I entered, I feel so relax and nothing seem to bother me. 

I was and still I'm one of the lucky ones. I got into a job in my field as soon as I got out of university, now that is a blessing. However I am not close to finishing, I want to take this all the way so I must continue. 

I have now until September to relax and get back into study mode. No more working for me, I think I may go Ghana for a month in July- August, or somewhere else, anywhere but London!🙈

See what God has done!! I am very content with my life right now. But I aspire for more, much more!

I have realised that I change my hair whenever I make a life changing decision, recent change 01.06.13

Open Diary: Food For Thought

For some reason, there is a song to describe almost all of your moods. There are also quotes that does the same. A friend of mine just updated her status on BlackBerry Messenger stating this quote;

"Never give more than you were willing to lose" - Its a quote by Sarah Dessen

I have heard this phrase numerous times, but i just realised now that I had done just that, and the result was one which was undesired. 

Moving on... I googled quotes and through my reading, I fell in-love with this one;

“I never asked you to earn me. I want only that you should need me. Your path is not one of merit. Bring the recurring desires of your mind to me, every time they emerge. They cannot shock me, for I willed them! Bring me your confusion, your fear, your craving, your anxiety, your inability to love the world, your hesitation to serve, your jealousy, all the deficiencies that defy your spiritual disciplines.” 

It is amazing how we crave that which we do not have but pay no mind to what craves us. Its very interesting how life works like that... in circles...

I have decided to pay more attention to that which I have and ignore what could be considered as an envious desire.

What I did during my M.I.A period prt.2

Part two of what I got up to during my absence from blogville.

Adaeze's 21st Birthday, we had dinner this amazing Chinese restaurant, called Feng Sheng, in Camden. It was beautiful. And we spent the rest of the evening in a VIP room at club Movida. It was an amazing night, she went all in and out. And I was glad to celebrate with her even though I was not feeling very well. 

My Don Don's Birthday lol.. Donna, she is in blue. I love this crazy chick, we went to the Lounge, WC1H London. We had so much fun. I am a rubbish bowler but I got lucky. The staff were so polite and friendly. Everybody that was there was just lovely and the atmosphere was so relaxed and calming, so you feel good to just have fun and not care. 

We are definitely gonna go there again.

I have done alot of things during my MIA, like going to the Miguel's concert, and going out to eat. But i was not able to document all of them in photographs. I hope yall can forgive me.

What I did during my M.I.A period prt.1

Heey Blog world, sorry for my recent MIA. I gave you lot reasons, I am sorry, but I cannot promise to be fully committed this time round because I have so much work to do. And since its my last year, I am doing my best to achieve the best. So you have to bear with me. :)

In other news, this is a few of the things I have been up to during my MIA period :D

This is another cloth I made from Ghana, absolutely love it. I have a kente band at waist *I'm all for kente this year* I love handmade cloths, but I get tired with the normal way they make it, so I provide some sketches to the tailor and they make it how I want it. :)

The three pictures are from Britain & Irelands Next Top Model Live. It was on the 30th October 2011, I went with my ex-coblogger Zateesha, we had such a fun time. I wore the Black Dress for some company who rent designer dresses. It was a beautiful experience. The catwalk show was very fun. those gorgeous half naked male dancers *faints* lol.. And Bluey Robinson, is such a good performer Loved Loved Loved him.

A family friends wedding in early November 2011,  I wore this handmade tailored dress. The Material is called Kente, it is a traditional cloth from Ghana, the material itself is hand woven, I used two different types to make the dress. thus there is a contrast between the back, and the front, but i didn't take any back shot, Sorry :(.

Don't Forget To

This Summer ..What I got from H&M

I have assembled a collage of my recent H&M purchases. This is not exactly what I got, but they are similar to what I purchased. I did not post the exact items because they are part of my summer wardrobe. I am going away and I don't want to get there and people already know my entire wardrobe lol. I like to keep them guessing, surprising people. 

Anyway, my favourite will be the jump-suit, and the striped skirt. I made sure to pick cool colours, although there a bit more bright colours in my shopping basket, i still decided to keep the most part subtle. My favourite trend this year will have to be the floral, the closest I have here is the jump suit, but i must say I am loving the wedges and florals.

Guys I am back from my exams. yay* and what other way than to write a post about beautiful prints, especially since this season is overwhelmed with them.

Innovative prints, stylish designs, beautiful contrasting but also clashing colours, and exquisite tailoring of the models outfit. You could not expect any less from Vlisco;

A while back, I wrote a post about the popularity of "African" tribal inspired Prints clothes in  clothing, shoes, bags and even buggy's. (don't believe me? see for yourself)
For me Vlisco is truly an inspiration due to the fact that these prints are part of my culture and up bringing. The elderly females in my family only wear clothing made from these fabrics. From miles away they will be able to spot the "real Vlisco". Regardless of how identical two fabrics might be, they still tend to tell you which is the original and which is not. 

Though I loved the colours, texture and prints of the fabric, I was never keen on wearing them, I use to think it was for old people, because it was so highly respected. I wanted to wear things which are modern. But growing up, I understand history does indeed repeats it self. I see the value of Vlisco. I have seen what could be made with these fabrics.  Something relatively modern which still look unique, with an impact that will cause head to turn.

As you can see I have a lot of prints going on. Normally these will clash, but we are in the season where that has been thrown out the window, especially with summer and spring collection being so floral and bright. Anything goes so long you feel comfortable and look amazing in it. I for one love it 

I should have lifted my chin bait in this picture. oh well

M.I.A. for a week or two

Hello Guys, I am gonna be 'missing in action' for the next couple of weeks, probably two weeks.

As you all know, its exams season for me, as much as I love this blogging world, reality faces me, and I have to sadly let this go, so I can concentrate on my exams, which are my future.

My original plan was to draft some post and feed your 'shallow' thirst, but this world to me is not just about posting, I also want to indulge with you... my readers, I want to read your post and leave my feed back, I want to visit new blog and follow them if I like them. 

If I was to draft a whole bunch of post, which I can, It would not be the best idea, I don't want to just receive, receive.. I want to also give, give you all my undisturbed attention.

In my absence you can check out the previous post and leave comments. I will still approve them. And when I come back, I will check out all my new followers and respond to all comments.

Hopefully Zateesha will post, so you guys are not left alone..

RIO - Mini Review

"I'm unwashable/Unrinseable/Like an abandoned school I have no principal."

I saw this Film on wednesday with my little brothers and it was hilarious. Quite sad too, its an eye opener, the story of love between two birdies. It is so cute, Love will over turn ones deepest fear, In this case, love allowed Blu to overcome his fear of flying. Definitely will recommend this for anybody with little siblings. Or if you are like me, you use them as an excuse to watch the film you want to watch.:

:D 

Negative comment, the 3D is rubbish, not worth it, might as well watch it in 2D. Either than that,  a great film, good story line, some very funny moments, sweet and inspirational moment. Promotes love, friendship, and care.

Had to Give this review before I went MIA lol..

I Must Confess...

Even though, I said, I was going to watch my spending, you can guess I could not keep that promise to myself. 

I have perfectly good excuse, and that is, I deserved it, I deserve to spend my own hard earned money, I worked for it. (that just made me feel so much better)

As you all know, wedges are back, they were most popular in the 1940's but these days they are everywhere. 

Sadly I only owned two pair of these 'must haves'. I already have, a red pair and a black pair.

Accompanying the floral prints released this spring, I needed a more fun, floral and natural looking pair.

Today I went into Matalan and look at what I found

I am so happy with these purchase. I like Matalan shoes, they never hurt my feet, they are so comfy and the prices are awesome too.

Accentuation, Embracing A New Love

Like most black folks that I know, the idea of sushi used was appalling to me. Fancying the lifestyle of these glamourous, cappuccino and latte drinking fashionista's I have to be open to new ideas, this means trying out new things, including raw fishes.

It seem disgusting to me at first, but they are decorated so pretty and look yummy. I tried sushi a year ago but never got the whole gist of it.

I must say however that, I absolutely adore it now, I am a fish lover, cooked, grilled or fried fish lover. But now, cold rice and raw fish has captured my heart.

Not enough to get it permanently inked on my skin, but hey!

'I am invincible, Like An Abandoned School I have no Principle'

So, I am always talking about what I would love to have in my wardrobe, but I have never shown you my wardrobe.  So I thought I would do a post on my room and the contents of my room.

This is the wardrobe that carries, My t-shirts and vest top, as you can see I have lots of t-shirts, not all of them fit in there so the most casual ones are packed in a suitcase under neath my bed. Also since its no longer cold, I have retrieved my jumpers and placed them in the same suitcase underneath my bed.

This wardrobe, opposite the t-shirt one carries, my dresses, coats/blazers and other formal wear, mostly church clothes. On top of that i have my shorts and skirts. I keep my jeans in another suitcase under my bed, I have notice they keep breaking my wardrobes, so I try not stuff it.

Over here is my my six shelve unit. Its very cute, its got quotes all around it and inside it.

I keep my books at the top, I read a lot of books, but I only buy ones that I think I will enjoy, when I'm done with a book, I usually put them in my book box, also underneath my bed. The second shelve is some DVD's I love, I have seen these film about 5x each. I also have some CD's and nail polishes, I don't know if you can see them. The third shelve got my perfumes and jewellery, the next shelve got some makeup bags, body spray deodorants, and some body scrubs from The Body Shop. The next  two shelves got my bargains, I used palmers a lot and palmolive bath milk, so when they are on sale, I buy the shop out.

In the corner to your right, Is my coat rail, I forgot to take a picture (just remembered)

These are all my shoes, no where close to Ms Kardashian below, but I am working on it. As you can see some are still in the boxes, some have not even been worn, I don't see how that is possible, but I have my favourites so I wear them out.

My bags, I could not be bothered to get them down and show you them individually but, yeah... I own a lot of handbags, some are in my mums closet because we share some....

Finally my bed and my mac book.. btw, let me introduce you to Moriah, Virgil, and Omarion... yes I said Omarion... lol My three buddies..
I guess I could have made my room neater but heck...
Usually there is a black and white or grey theme going on in my room, but since its a exams month, I am not really bothered.

My wardrobe is diverse, I dress according to my mood, you might see me in 5inch stiletto and tight mini dress and the next day you will see me in jeans and a t-shirt or even shorts with boots and oversize jumper. I don't believe in dress codes, I believe in a style instinct, just do you, as long as you love it and no you look good. After all fashion is about making a statement. So make YOUR statement.
